The History of Metaxa

Metaxa is a special Greek spirit invented by a silk trader named Spyros Metaxas. This happened in 1888 in Attica region, the province of Athens. Since then, the product has earned world recognition for its quality, color and taste.
The product has been marketed very well all around the world and became famous creating a very large number of dedicated lovers.
Expressions of admiration and adjectives like "The Elixir of Life", "The Nectar of the Gods", "The Blessed Spirit" accompanied Metaxa from its birth, till this very day!
metaxa history
With such a world recognition, it is not strange that Metaxa is subject of a kind of hysteria worldwide concerning its supply. This "hysteria" is amplified by the fact that some types of Metaxa are very difficult to find or are found only at selected shops around the world. A few of them are: Metaxa Centenary, Metaxa Rhodes, Metaxa Golden Reserve, Metaxa Grand Olympian Reserve, and Metaxa Golden Age. All these types were bottled on special occasions from selected old oak barrels that are kept in Metaxa storage facilities.
It is real that Metaxa is one of the most well recognised brands in the world.
